Shekhar Mehta is currently the serving trustee of Operation Eyesight India, a Canada based Organization. Shekhar has also been instrumental in setting up 15 Eye Hospitals across India serving nearly 50,000 eye operations each year. These hospitals offer free medical services to poor people belonging to the below poverty line.
 The facilities provided by the hospital include glaucoma care, paediatric ophthalmology, phaco surgery and retina care. Patients can also avail of weekly free eye check-up. For the slum people a bi-monthly free eye check-up camp is conducted here.
